The Victoria Secret collection’s core message will be to promote their brand’s beautiful designs on diverse, empowered women.
They want their line to celebrate women who want to wear beautiful lingerie for themselves, every day. This new collaboration between Victoria’s Secret and Bluebella comes in the wake of transgender model Munroe Befgdorf appearing in Bluebella’s 2019 lingerie campaign Love Yourself.
Victoria’s Secret have come under fire in recent years for refusing to include trans models on the runway. Ali Tate Cutler is hoping her involvement will pave the way for other plus-size models in the future.
In 2018 former chief marketing officer, Ed Razek of Victoria’s Secret parent company L Brands made controversial comments regarding transgender and plus-size models.
Ed said that Victoria’s Secret didn’t include transsexuals as part of the line-up because their show is based on fantasy.
Since then, Victoria Secrets have tried to re-brand themselves given the public cry for better representation.
Chatting to E magazine, Ali Tate Cutler explained why she is delighted to be given the chance to work with Victoria’s Secret. She said, “I never expected that I was going to see an image of myself on the wall next to these top supermodels that I have been looking up to since I was a little girl.
It feels amazing. I feel on top of the world.” “I feel like they are headed in the right direction and they are listening to their audience who have requested to see more women of diverse shapes and sizes,”
she continued. “I think if they continue to head in that direction, they will be on to a jackpot because that is reflective of what the average woman is in America.”
