Makeup tips to take from New York Fashion Week. Fashion Week is not just about clothes, it is also a goldmine for beauty addicts.
The designers’ runway gave us a sneak peek of what hair and makeup looks are going to be huge next season and all over our Instagram feeds.
Thanks to shows like Euphoria, colourful eye makeup and rhinestones are still going strong.
Speaking of hair, low ponytails and braids are going to be a major trend.
We couldn’t help but pick up some beauty tips from the best makeup artist around the world.
Use Maybelline New York Baby Lips as an eye gloss
At the Proenza Schouler’s Spring 2020 show, makeup artist Diane Kendal created two glossy lid looks inspired by the 80s for Maybelline New York.
She first applied a base using Maybelline’s TattooStudio Sharpenable Gel Pencil in Intense Charcoal or the Instant Age Rewind Eraser concealer in Mahogany, Tan Caramel or Warm Olive.
She then tapped Baby Lips Moisturising Lip Balm in Quenched on top and gently blotted away some of the pigment.
This helped to give the makeup look a worn in and diffused look.
Don’t panic when you break a nail
There’s nothing worse than chipping or breaking a nail. And it always seems to happen at the most inconvenient times.
To fix a bad manicure in a pinch, Essie Lead Nail Artist Rita Remart shared a little secret. Armed with press on nails and the nail polish of your choice, you can paint the fake nails to match the rest of your manicure.
Use your lipstick as a cheek stain
This is one of our favorite beauty hacks. Using a long-lasting lipstick as a lip and cheek stain. If you’re someone who travels frequently or constantly on the go, this hack is for you.
Backstage at the Tommy Hilfiger x Zendaya show, MUA Sir John created a 70s glam look, complete with deep brown lip and flushed cheeks.
He used Lancôme L’Absolu Rouge in Rose or Lancôme L’Absolu Rouge Ruby Cream Lipstick in Bad Blood and Coeur De Rubis by first applying the lipstick to his arm, then smudging the product onto the cheeks using his fingertips.
A little goes a long way and blending thoroughly is a must.
Mix your own eyeshadow shade
Maybelline New York Global Makeup Artist Erin Parsons gave the models at Alice + Olivia a dreamy mint, peach, lilac, lemon and powder blue eye makeup.
To create the perfect shade, Parsons mixed Maybelline’s Colour Tattoo Cream Eyeshadow in Chill Girl with another shade of her choice.
The result is a delicate, custom shade pigment.
Eyeliner has a lot more uses than you think
Eyeliner is not just for the eyes. Try it on your lips too. When you’re trying to create a deep lip with impact, sometimes your regular lipstick won’t cut it.
Sir John used an eyeliner to give the models at the Tommy Hilfiger x Zendaya show some depth. Start with Lancôme Le Stylo Waterproof Long Lasting Eyeliner in Café Noir to fill in your lips and follow that with Lancôme L’Absolu Rouge Ruby Cream Lipstick in Queen Ruby.
Setting spray is your best friend
At Jason Wu, Diane Kendal used Maybelline’s Setting Spray mixed with their Lemonade Craze Eyeshadow Palette to create a draped eyeshadow and cheek look.
The setting spray will help keep the pigments in place all night and give them a washed look.
