Fashion Review Irish Fashion Designer Peter O’Brien. Shoppers at Dunnes Stores, will be well seasoned to the name of Irish fashion designer, Peter O’Brien who earlier this year launched his new and largest SpringSummer19 collection for the Irish retailer back in March 2019.
Born in London to Irish parents, Peter came to Ireland as a youngster where after completing school he set to work creating visual display in various Dublin department stores. Moving back to London, Peter continued to show his flair for design and took up working on displays for Marshall & Snellgrove which we know today as Debenhams.
Encouraged by British fashion editor Eve Pollard, to apply to Saint Martins School Of Art, Peter was accepted on a foundation course. where after completing a three-year stint, he graduated in a degree course in Fashion Design with 1st class honours. He later went on to complete a post-graduate course at Parsons School of Design in New York.
On the move again, Peter landed a job in Paris working at Major French fashion house, Christian Dior where he worked his way up to became a senior designer at Chloé . In 1989, O’Brien was appointed creative director at Rochas, where he was responsible for the designing their women’s wear and accessories as well as overseeing their menswear, perfumes and licenses.
Twelve years on, Peter decided to return home to Ireland to follow his dream of being an independent designer where he created collections for the likes of AWear and Arnotts. Since then, Peter has excelled in his field of art and design and has spent his time creating fashion pieces for the film industry and theatre.
This Award-winning fashion designer continues to demonstrate his flair and talent for fashion and releases seasonal collections for one of Ireland’s leading retail chains, Dunnes Stores. His latest collection for Dunnes titled “Quiet Drama” includes a 19 piece of sophisticated ladies fashion wear made up of pleated dresses, skirts, shirts and Skinny Trousers that cleverly combine the use of Oyster, ivory, khaki, whites, navy and raspberry as part of their colourful designs.
As one of our most seasoned fashion designers of today, it is said that the best is yet to come from this man who gained vital experience working for some of the biggest fashion houses on the planet today.
