Ralph Lauren announce new sustainability goals. Fashion label Ralph Lauren has made a serious commitment toward sustainability, with the company striving to achieve 100 per cent of sustainably-sourced materials by 2025.
As well as aiming to use 100 per cent of sustainably-sourced ‘key’ materials – cotton, polyester, viscose – by 2025, they wil also train their product, merchandising and design teams on circular fashion.
The label also plans to be entirely transparent about the chemicals they use in production by 2020 and to eliminate the use of harmful chemicals in the supply chain by 2025.
That’s not all, as the company promises to incorporate 170 million recycled plastic bottles in their product range and packaging materials by 2025.
The brand is also pledging to start ‘science-based’ greenhouse gas reduction targets by 2020 and 100% renewable energy targets by the end of this year.
Ralph Lauren states that he hopes the new strategy will “bring clarity and focus to how Ralph Lauren will deliver the change required to create a better future.”
While the brand are looking to a greener future, Design the Change will also look at diversity, aiming to have equal gender representation in leadership positions by 2023.
Ralph Lauren also wants to make the workout place more inclusive, with the brand hoping to appear at more career fairs with the focus on recruiting LGBTQIA+ talent.
