Disney to release celebrity designed fashion collection. A host of celebrities, fashion designers, fashion models and actresses have come together for a collaboration with American theme parks, Disney to release a range of Mickey Mouse ear hats and Minnie Mouse ear headbands.
These includes Coach fashion designers, Vera Wang, Betsey Johnson along with leading fashion models, Karlie Kloss, Heidi Klum and Star Wars actress Ashley Eckstein.
This unique line up of stars were all asked for their input on what designs they would like to be included in the new Disney range with Ashley Eckstein claiming she was surprised to be asked to lend her own creative vision to designing the iconic accessories for the American brand.
Taking to her social media account, Instagram, Ashley said: “Last year, Disney came to me and asked if I would be interested in designing my own pair of Minnie ears,”
Actress, Eckstein noted on her Instagram post:. “I was shocked and in utter disbelief! I spent an entire weekend sketching ideas and the entire process has just been surreal!”
Top American fashion designer Vera Wang who is infamous for her bridal designs that were worn by celebrities including Kim Kardashian and singer, Alicia Keyes has included a ceremonial take on her own designs which include a hand-sewn crystals and pearl embroidery that are combined with silk and tulle fabrics that she uses in her own collections.
Talking about her own designs the 69-year old designer said: “As a lifelong lover of Disney, and the joy and happiness, not to mention fantasy, Disney has inspired in all of us,” Wang said in a statement of her fall 2020 release. “I am both thrilled and honoured to have partnered with them to create the Vera Wang Disney wedding veil with the iconic mouse ears so symbolic of their global brand.”
Disney has always been a favourite with fashion designers wanting to include their characters in their work. Back in 2013, 2013, Italian fashion designer, Riccardo Tisci who at the time was creative director of Givenchy released a collection that featured Bambi sweatshirts, bags, and more with a campaign starring actress Amanda Seyfried.
In March 2018, fashion designers Humberto Leon and Carol Lim released a men and women’s collection with Disney to celebrate Mickey Mouse’s 90th birthday. Back in January 2019 Italian fashion brand Gucci released a Three Little Pigs-themed capsule collection of apparel and accessories in honour of the Chinese New Year’s year of the pig.
The new Disney ear hats and headbands are expected to be available from 24th May at the Disneyland Resort in California, Walt Disney World Resort in Florida and online with new designs will be unveiled monthly with additional designers to be announced.
