Selena Gomez designs bikini to cover kidney transplant scar. Selena Gomez has revealed that she designed a swimsuit specifically to cover her kidney transplant scar.
The singer and actress helped design the swimsuit – along with two others – in collaboration with her friend and former assistant Theresa Mingus’ new brand Krahs, making sure that the high waisted bikini fit a certain way.
Mingus revealed that the line is inspired by her love of sharks and includes a lot of motifs to that effect.
Gomez then revealed that she was able to design her own suits for the limited-edition capsule called ‘Selena x Krahs Swim’ – a one-piece, a deep-cut bikini top and a high-waisted bottoms with belt.
She explained in a YouTube video for Krahs: “I did have a really good time designing.”
“I’ve had a kidney transplant and I like bathing suits that kind of cover where that’s been and make me feel comfortable.”
She praised Theresa for showing her how to be a ‘strong and fearless woman’.
“I met Theresa 5 years ago. We worked together and became best friends. She has taught me how to see life in a fun, carefree and uplifting way. She has shown me how to be a strong and fearless woman. She is beautiful, kind and smart. I saw how capable she was of achieving her dreams.”
Theresa revealed why she created the collection, saying: “Every woman wants to feel sexy. Every woman wants to feel confident and beautiful. I definitely want to have a variety of different pieces so everyone can wear them.”
