Christian Siriano responds to Selma Blair’s fashion line idea. In a recent interview with Vanity Fair, Selma Blair expressed her desire to create an accessible fashion line following her diagnosis with MS.
The actress name-dropped her friend and fashion designer Christian Siriano as her dream collaborator for a fashion line, telling Vanity Fair: “I would like to partner with someone like Christian Siriano on a line for everyone—not just people who necessarily need adaptive clothing, but for those who want comfort, too. It can still be chic. You shouldn’t have to sacrifice style. Like, let’s get elastic waistbands to look a little bit better.”
Now, Siriano has responded in a new interview with People.
In a lot of ways, Siriano sounds like the perfect fit for Blair’s project, as his fashion line has always been dedicated to making fashion inclusive for everyone.
Blair is a life-long friend of Siriano and even walked in his runway show during New York Fashion Week in February 2018.
Siriano told People: “Selma and I talked about it at dinner. What’s happening with her is so unreal, so I was like, ‘Well maybe this is something that is needed in a way,’ so we’ll see. I don’t know yet but maybe.”
Blair made her first appearance since revealing her MS diagnosis at Vanity Fair’s Oscars Party in February wearing a Ralph & Russo multi-coloured gown with a flowing cape and carried a custom cane.
When news broke of her diagnosis, Siriano posted a touching tribute on Instagram, saying: “t was such an honor to have this amazing woman @selmablair grace our runway this past Fall season. She is one of the strongest and most wonderful humans I know and we are sending her so much love. I would have her walk any and every season to come if I could!”
