Karl Lagerfeld’s final Chanel show is a winter wonderland. Chanel welcomed guests into a winter wonderland for Karl Lagerfeld’s last show during Paris Fashion Week.

The Godfather of fashion passed away last month at the age of 85, with his lasting legacy at the helm of the French fashion house, so showing his final collection was always going to be emotional.

The Godfather of fashion

The show was a touching tribute to the late designer.

The venue – a recreation of a snow capped Alpine town – paid homage to Lagerfeld’s love of Salzburg, where he held his 2014 Metiers d’Art show because of Coco Chanel’s relationship with the Austrian city.

On each attendee’s seat was a final message from the fashion legend himself: ‘The Beat Goes On’, which was written underneath an illustration of him walking beside the label’s namesake.

True master of fashion

A voice message played too, with Lagerfeld saying of the design process: “It’s like walking in a painting,”

Attendees and models, including Kirsten Stewart, Cara Delevingne and Penelope Cruz, all observed a minute’s silence in memory of the legendary fashion designer.

RIP David Bowie

As the emotional finale took place to David Bowie’s Heroes, two models were seen crying as they walked the runway with Delevingne.

The audience gave a unanimous standing ovation to the man whose legacy will never be forgotten.
