As soon as the sun set on Wednesday night, the Halloween decorations were pulled from the door, costumes shoved to the back of the wardrobes and we agreed that as it was November, it was officially Christmas season.
One of my favourite parts of the Holiday season is the build up. Having outgrown St. Nick, I am more excited about the 12 pubs of Christmas then what's waiting under the tree. When I was younger I would spend weeks anticipating what my 'Christmas Outfit' would be. Now, it's all about the novelty jumper.
According to The Ugly Christmas Sweater Party Book: The Definitive Guide to Getting Your Ugly On, the trend first reared its head around 2001. Coincidentally this was the year Bridget Jones Diary was released and we all got our first glimpse of Mark D’arcy in his Rudolph number.
We haven’t looked back since. While these bad-taste jumpers began as a novelty and could only be found lurking in your older relative’s wardrobes or in charity shops, the trend has snowballed to the extent that they can be snapped up in many High Street stores.
Here's your ultimate guide on how to pull off the trend
