When we think of fashion week, particularly London fashion week, I know I tend to expect a plethora of ideas, outrageous imagination, taking it to the next level and a serious explosion of colour. Now what I don’t expect is plain old white! However, pair white with some seriously incredible cuts, amazing shapes and delicious fabrics and you have one hell of a show. Plunging gowns, structured eyelets and sweet sailor brims certainly helped create a magical exhibition of white light float down the catwalk at the latest shows.
Now that is not to say that there were not some stunning pops of colour showcased within the looks. At Acne and J.JS Lee, fresh white blockades were injected with some deep green washes of colour, for a show stopping take on the two-tone look.
Whereas, Simone Rocha and Mulberry opted for cleaner lines and structured fits for their all-white ensembles, teasing the crowd with that on trend cocktail of sweetness and light femininity and androgynous modernity. This season is certainly not about straight forward white as we know it but in fact innocence is far from any designers mind. It is now powerful, strong and ready to give black a run for its money. Check out some of the looks below and see if you get into the white spirit of things.
