Victoria Beckham is adding yet another string to her fashion bow. The former Spice Girl has announced that she is adding a new range of optical lenses to her fashion collection. Victoria announced the news on both her official twitter and facebook page. She tweeted the following message earlier this afternoon;

‘Excited to announce the launch of my optical line today!’

She accompanied the tweet with an image of herself  from her September spread in Glamour magazine. Victoria will guest edit of the highly anticipated September issue of the publication.

The fashion designer already has her own successful sunglasses collection and the transition into eyewear seems like a logical next step. Victoria is near sighted and admits she finds it difficult to find flattering prescription glasses. Speaking to Women’s Wear Daily, the fashionista spoke about her own optical requirements, ‘“I do need to wear glasses — [but] I haven’t found glasses that suit me or that I particularly like”.

Victoria teamed up with bespoke, British, eyewear label Cutler & Gross for the collection. Known for their classic, iconic frames the collaboration seems like an excellent fit with Mrs Beckham’s design aesthetic.

Silhouettes are varied and range from delicate aviators to bold geometric styles. The collection also features unisex frames such as the ‘Heavy Square’, which Victoria and David both wear. Each style will come in three colour ways and the palette for the collection consists of black, topaz, yellow, forest green and tortoise.

The collection will be launched at Silmo Paris – The International Optics and Eyewear Exhibition on October 4^th 2012 and will reportedly hit the shelves in January 2013. Each pair will retail for about $410, which is approximately €330, based on current exchange rates.
