Fashion trend reports have been heralding the sports luxe look for months and we dutily took note. We appeared optimistic and kept an open mind, but in reality, we really felt that sport and fashion were just two things better left seperate.

Well, the key player has emerged. Step forward the track pant. After an all star performance on the Rag & Bone, Alexander Wang & Phillip Lim catwalks, track pants are now creeping onto the high street and being made accessible by fashion bloggers who are pairing them with everything from leather jackets to sequins. Every woman knows how difficult it is to achieve the  balance between comfort, practicality and fashion (luckily the Juicy Couture tracksuit fad has disappeared). The track pant is therefore a piece which can be incorporated into every womans wadrobe be they student or career woman on the go.

A good place to start is with a simple straight fit pant in monochrome. (L-R: Zara/Mango.) Take inspiration from Elin Kling and pair with a relaxed fit top (oversize if you are not tucking it in), a biker jacket and some simple heels.

For a more youthful, fashion forward approach, opt for colour and silky fabrics. Pair tapered jogging pants with heels for a relaxed night time look, or leather hi top trainers for an edgy day time outfit. Alternatively, pair track pants with a bandeau and a blazer for a quirky night time outfit.
