I have to start by sending a HUGE congratulations to the gorgeous Guiliana Rancic, who finally became a mom to a 7lbs 4oz baby boy via a gestational surrogate in Colorado on the 30th Aug. Her story to date has been one of despair, grief, loss, anticipation, heartbreak and finally joy as she becomes a new mom to a long awaited baby boy.

Guiliana's husband Bill has been tweeting about the tot, gushing ""The 'Duke' has landed!". Hinting at the baby boy's ultra cool name, Bill futher confirmed via twitter that the boy is indeed named Edward Duke Rancic. The couple watched as little Edward entered the world, Guiliana was the first to hold her son and Bill cut the cord.

Bill, 41, tweeted early Thursday. "Edward Duke Rancic was welcomed into the world last night at 7lbs 4oz. G & I feel blessed beyond words...We did it!"

His wife later tweeted “It's true what they say (and what u all told us).... @BillRancic and I couldn't love little Duke anymore than we do. He's a dream....”.

This couple certainly deserve all the happiness in the world having previoulsy endured serveral failed IVF treatments and Guiliana herself overcoming her battle with breast cancer prior to becoming mom to little Edward Duke.

Other celebs have also used surrogacy to expand their family's. Sir Elton John and his hubby David Furnish welcomed baby boy Zachary Jackson Levon into the world via surrogate on Christmas Day 2010.

The gorgeous aussie Nicole Kidman and her husband Keith Urban are proud parents to two pretty little ladies Sunday Rose and Faith Margaret.

After Kidman gave birth to daughter Sunday Rose in July 2008, the couple tried to conceive again naturally, but failed. They tried again through in-vitro fertilisation (IVF), but were not successful. The couple were then advised by doctors to use a surrogate instead. And little Faith Margaret Kidman Urban was born on December 28 2010, via gestational surrogate at the Centennial Medical Centre in Nashville, Tennessee.

Kidman credited her first daughter's unexpected appearance to her swimming in the waters of a small Australian outback town during the filming of Australia. She and six other women became pregnant after swimming in Kununurra!!!!! Strange but true.

Kidman has two adopted children, son Connor, 17, and daughter Isabella, 20, from her first marriage to US actor Tom Cruise.

Similarly, Sarah Jessica Parker and her husband Matthew Broderick welcomed twin girls Tabiltha Hodge and Marion Lorretta Elwell in 2009 using a surrogate in Ohio. The twins joined big brother James Wilke (the couples naturally born son).

Neil Patrick Harris and David Burtka welcomed fraternal twins Harper Grace, a girl and Gideon Scott, a boy in October 2010. The happy couple described the twins arrival as "a miracle of modern science" and simplified the whole story, by using the phrase "Two eggs, two embryos, one of mine, one of his". The couple spoke on Oprah about the complexities of surrogacy, and explained how they choose an egg donor at a donor bank, they chose "an oven" meaning a gestational carrier or surrogate and the eggs were then artificially inseminated with the couples sperm, one with sperm from Neil the other with sperm from David, then placed in the womb of the surrogate to bake for 9months. Harris later made a statement about the twins saying "these childen came into our lives with nothing but love". And it appears the healthy happy kiddies have LOVE in abundance with these two hands on dad's.

It is always lovely to write about happy family filled with love expanding their brood, we wish all the parents mentioned, especially new parents Guiliana and Bill Rancic a lifetime of love, health and happiness.
