Could it be? Could Rachel Zoe’s touch and turn to gold affect has run out? The American designer has built quiet the empire over the past few years, first up was the launch of her ready-to-wear line, which was shortly followed up by handbags and a winter accessories collection, and last month she unveiled her new line of costume jewellery for Neiman Marcus. But has the market become saturated and ultimately bored with all this Rachel Zoe attire?

Page Six have reported Zoe's collections haven't been selling well despite the use of her show as a promotional platform. According to insiders at Neiman Marcus, Nordstrom and Bloomingdales the interest the line had “peaked”. Last week Selfridges confirmed that they dropped the line because of the high price points. Following this the stylist won't be attending the Burberry show like she normally does. A Rachel Zoe rep declined to comment on the reports but confirmed that Zoe will show at Lincoln Centre during fashion week as planned.

However Li & Fung USA chief strategy officer, Alan Chartrash had this to say; “We’re very happy. Apparel launched a year or so, and since that time, we’ve launched footwear, handbags and we’re launching a line of jewellery exclusively with Neiman Marcus and Bergdorf Goodman. We’re supportive of Rachel and the continuation of the brand. Like any clothing line, it ebbs and flows, but we’re very happy with the apparel sales”.

It’s a reps job to fill us as consumers and buyers with confidence in their brand/client but what comes across from Chartrash’s statement is that they are well aware the brand is struggling. Is hope really enough to get back the golden touch of Rachel Zoe? And is this a simple case of expanding too quickly?
