There really is nothing sexier than blushing cheeks and a bitten lip (just ask Christian Grey!). Winter is the perfect time to ditch the cakey make up and heavy tans, and move forward into the season radiating that natural glow. But how do we manage to look fresh and vibrant instead of worn and weathered, during this chilly season?

The first step is pretty easy, MOISTURISE. Any natural beauty worth her salt will tell you that drinking water and moisturising are key to great fresh skin. If your not 100% confident going bare faced, a tinted moisturiser will sufice. Ditch the heavy foundation, the object of this look, is to look beautifully exposed to the elements. These lovely ladies below look radiant, hydrated and natural.

Left to RIght: Kate Bosworth, Jennifer Aniston and (the newly married) Anne Hathaway.

These leading ladies give us great examples of the "Base Face". This is the face as natural as possible, small bit of blush, a slick of nude lip gloss or balm and a slick of mascara.

But for most of us, the thoughts of going out without something more on our faces is enough to send a shiver straight up our spines before we have even left the house!

So we can use the celeb inspired "Base Face".

Now that we have a great solid base to work from, its pretty easy to go full force with the bronser and lipstick. This usually results in a pretty desperate looking bid to mask ourselves behind layers and layers of shadow, which will ony deteriorate as soon as the elements strike. This desperate raid of the make up bag often leaves us looking worse than we ever would of had we just left our fresh faces alone!

Poor Christina Aguilera always seem's to go overboard with the auld slap, when really we all know that she should have left herself alone.

One easy way to avoid looking like you have just signed up for a drag contest is to pick one feature, and maximise it.

For Example: Leaving the face primed and the eyes simple, smothering your lips in this seasons hottest colour will make a huge fashion statement. It will save you a ton of time in the busy winter mornings and will draw all the attention away from other problem areas on your face. All the biggest fashion designers have used a pop of colour of the runway models lips this Fall/Winter 2012.

The shades you should really be aiming for this season are Oxblood, Claret, Burgundy, Purple, and Plum.
