The recent Olympic Gala in London proved to the attendees of last week’s Met Gala in New York that style exists on both sides of the Atlantic.

Among those who turned up at the Royal Albert Hall was Girls Aloud singer Kimberley Walsh, who appeared in a silver Georges Chakra gown with an embellished corset and tulle skirt. She accessorised with a tiny Assya clutch and wore her hair in loose waves.

Other stars who stood out on the red carpet included presenter Davina McCall in a figure-hugging floor-length electric blue dress, singer Melanie Chisholm in a conservative cream number, and Saturdays singer Rochelle Wiseman who arrived with her JLS singer fiancé Marvin Humes in tow, in a red floor-length satin dress teamed with a black clutch.

The sports stars also impressed in the style stakes, with former tennis player Annabel Croft appearing in a floor length red Issa-style dress and Olympic gold medallist Amy Williams in a black sequinned gown.

But without a doubt, it was the Duchess of Cambridge who stole the show (and the headlines!). Kate showed up, along with William, in a breath-taking teal dress by one of her favourite designers Jenny Packham. The gown had a detailed lace back and capped shoulders, an embellished belt and a flowing pleated skirt. The Duchess wore her hair up in a chignon style for a change, and accessorised with Jimmy Choo’s ‘Vamp’ sandals that she sported earlier on in the month at a dinner hosted by The Thirty Club at Claridges.

Just over one year after Kate first became a duchess, she still continues to amaze and impress in the fashion world.
