After first appearing on our reality TV screens as the better half of ‘The Simple Life’, reality star turned designer Nicole Richie will join her pal Paris Hilton, Jessica Simpson, Blake Lively and a host of other famous females at the beauty counter after announcing plans to release her first fragrance line this year. Having already mastered the art of clothes design, acting, writing (The Truth About Diamonds), singing and of course, motherhood, it was only a matter of time before the adopted daughter of Lionel Richie was the face of her own perfume creation.

Richie, who is married to rocker Joel Madden, will launch the perfume in American department and speciality stores in September and has revealed in recent interviews that her mother inspired her latest project.

"I have a very traditional Southern mum - you never left the house without lotion...Over her lotion went oil and perfume - she was very put together from head to toe. It wasn't just a one-dimensional smell - there were many different layers."

The 30-year-old mother of two, who has previously been the face of Jimmy Choo, has said that she has designed everything herself, from the signature scent right down to the packaging.

"I am very particular in the way that I create. We are in an interesting time right now where women aren't just one thing, there are many different parts to a woman. So I wanted to create a very intricate bottle that was still elegant, but not so in-your-face girly at the same time."

Nicole’s perfume line will include a variety of scents from blackberry to vanilla, and here’s hoping it won’t be too long before it finds its way to our Irish shelves!
