Naturally removing stretch marks

If you suffer with stretch marks, you will understand the feeling of wanting to slip into your summer bikini but being too afraid and frustrated to do so because of the marks on your skin. Well fear no more. There are possible ways to reduce the appearance of stretch marks and even erase them completely with natural methods that anyone can try.

Stretch marks are characterized by tearing of the upper layer of the skin, epidermis, which leaves scars on the skin surface. Medically known as striae atrophicae, stretch marks start as pink, reddish brown, brown, or very dark brown streaks. With time, they turn off-colour in shade. The marks are generally associated with pregnancy and weight gain. However, they can also develop during rapid muscle growth.

While there are a number of topical creams and ointments for stretch marks, these do not work sometimes and may even cause skin irritation. Thankfully, there are a number of all-natural remedies for stretch marks, and here are some of them.

Coffee Grinds

Take coffee grinds with olive oil, and make into a paste. Massage well into the area with stretch marks for about 5 minutes. Then take a hot towel, and wrap it around the area for about 20-25 minutes. Remove and wash off with warm water. Also, when you are finished, apply a moisturizer to the area. The olive oil with the caffeine in the grinds, will help stimulate the area to remove the stretch marks. If you do this 1-3 times a week, you will start to notice a difference within 2 weeks!

Vitamin E

This vitamin is known as one of the best natural scar remedies. It stimulates the collagen in the skin, which can provide a noticeable difference when it comes to texture and strength. Take a hot bath, then open a liquid capsule of Vitamin E and apply it directly to the area, massaging firmly. You can easily purchase these pills at any chemist or health food store.

Lime Juice

Lime juice is a low-cost solution that lightens the skin and reduces the red appearance of a stretch mark. To use mix two or three drops of lime juice with oatmeal. Use enough oatmeal to create a paste. Apply this mixture to the stretch mark and leave it on for up to 15 minutes or until the paste dries. Take a shower to remove the paste residue. Apply the lime juice and oatmeal mixture once or twice a day until skin lightens enough to whiten the stretch mark.

Alternatively you can use the lime juice paste right before going bed as an overnight treatment. The longer the paste stays on the mark, the better. Lime juice bleaches naturally, but takes time. Another option is to mix the juice with aloe vera and spread in liquid form. This allows you to leave it in place all day long. Use equal parts lime juice and aloe vera juice and apply to skin like lotion.

Coconut Oil

Coconut oil really does do wonders for almost anything that you can imagine! It has fatty chain acids that work to regenerate and rebuild the connective tissues that cause stretch marks. This is much like performing like antioxidants against free radicals. The coconut oil works against those free radicals. And by doing so, it can also soften the skin, as well as rebuild it and reduce the look and feel of stretch marks. To use simply apply directly onto the affected areas daily and watch them disappear!

Lavender Oil

Lavender oil is the most recommended home remedy in the treatment of stretch marks. When applied three times a day to the affected area, lavender oil induces the growth of new skin tissues to make the stretch marks gradually fade away.
