Former The OC actress Mischa Barton has launched her own eponymous flagship boutique in London’s trendy Spitalfields Market area. The launch of the vintage-inspired store took place on Wednesday, with Mischa tweeting the night before
“So excited for the store launch tomorrow in Spitalfield's. Really something to be proud of. It's gorgeous.”
Following on from a successful nine-season spell designing handbags, the actress has turned her hand to designing her own clothing and cosmetic collections, which will all be housed in the East-London Boutique.
While the press were there in force on Wednesday and Kate Middleton’s brother James even turned up to show his support, an official opening will take place on Saturday where attendees can meet Mischa and enjoy 10% off.
British-born Mischa told vogue.com that the clothing collection is based on her own personal style but aimed at a wider audience, "There are some very young pieces, some more sophisticated, mature pieces, and also some quirky stuff that's more like my wardrobe. There are plenty of pieces for people who don't just want to dress like Mischa."
Surprisingly, the prices range from an affordable £25-£250; Mischa says it was important that her designs be accessible and available to her fans.
The store itself, located on Brushfields Road, was a concept Mischa worked on since she began her bag designing in 2008. In December of last year, the 28-year-old former troubled star announced plans to open a UK-based store. Mischa was arrested and charged in 2007 for driving under the influence and possession of marijuana. She was also involuntarily confined by a psychiatrist as she was deemed to have a mental disorder.
However, we are glad to see that Mischa is looking happy and healthy again and we wish her every success in her latest venture.
For Irish fans, Mischa’s bag collection can be purchased in Kilkenny Design Centre, Littlewoods, Debenhams, Arnotts and a variety of independent stores across the country.
