Kelly Brook’s collection for New Look was released earlier this week.
As she herself has curves to die for, the collection is aimed at more curvy girls who find it difficult to find clothing to suit them in this size zero, stick-thin obsessed fashion society.
“I designed the range with myself in mind, because I wanted to do something that was very much for curvaceous girls,” Kelly said. “Something that showed off your figure; that was flattering, classy, but still showed your shape. So I designed the stuff really based on my own vintage wardrobe that I have at home.”
She was also no doubt inspired by the original curvy icons, Marilyn Monroe and Brigitte Bardot, and as a result, the collection steals elements from the uber-stylish era, the 1950s, with halterneck tops, cinched and high waists, skater skirts and pencil skirts. She has also designed a range of accessories including Mary Jane-style platform peep-toes, wedges and oversized clutch bags. The collection is deliciously bright and summery, very colourful with lots of floral patterns, polka dots and bows.
Kelly modelled the collection herself and the photo-shoot was shot on Brighton beach, as she said herself that she wanted to “keep it British”.
The collection is available online and in selected stores, and prices range from £15 to £40, which works out at about €20 to €50 for us Irish fashionistas!
As a huge fan of the 1950s era in fashion, I personally love the collection, and will no doubt be investing in a couple of pieces!
