Need a little colour boost for your wardrobe? A new Irish label is focusing on bold and contemporary hand made silk designs, with just a hint of the east thrown in.

  
Hot off the cutting table this month, Ivory has launched with a collection of jackets and tops to inject colour and fun into Irish wardrobes. Silk satin blouses, €70 come in bright patterns and sassy colour blocks, but there’s also the paler nude shade for the more subtle girls out there. Pieces like The Butterfly Shirtdress, €95, combine understated glamour with classical design in a steely silver-grey with gentle embroidered detail.

  
There’s also plenty of attitude in the black Dragonfly Shirtdress €95, while stylish simplicity is what you get in the lightly ribbed chiffon Cardi, €65. For something that won’t be seen elsewhere on Irish shelves, the two-tone silk in the tailored Chemise, €75, is achieved using two different colours in the weave.

  
If structure and form are what you’re after, the Combo, €90, blends body hugging Thai silk with sexy sheer stretch cotton sleeves. For fun and flirty, go for the lightly patterned silks in electric blue and striking pink used in the Empire top, with its crossover neckline and satin finish on the sleeves.

  
Gillian Ivory, who is behind the label, tells us the designs are aimed at the woman who wants timeless style, but with a little originality in the mix. “With one of these pieces you’ll always have a top to wear out in the evening, whether you throw it on with a pair of jeans and funky shoes, or dress it up with something special. Our designs draw inspiration from trends and fashion but they don't depend on either. The fabrics are luxurious, but we’ve kept the prices at a level that we hope is affordable, even in today’s market. We’ve also tried to choose a balance of core colours and more vibrant shades to allow our customers the scope and choice to create the look they like. ”.
