ICONIC FILM COSTUMES TO GO ON DISPLAY

There have been so many memorable costumes in the world of film throughout the years. It is amazing how one outfit can define a whole film. But what happens when the film is wrapped? What becomes of the clothes that created such a stir? Will they ever be seen again?

Well, fans of fashion and film alike can rejoice as a collection of iconic movie costumes will go on display at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London this autumn.

Hollywood costume designer Deborah Nadoolman Landis, who is also a guest curator for the exhibition, has said: “This landmark exhibition will provide a once in a lifetime opportunity to explore the most beloved characters in Hollywood history and gain insight on the role of the costume designer and their vital contribution to cinema storytelling.”

As well as displaying costumes from Ben Hur, Avatar, Harry Potter, Gone With The WindFight Club, Cleopatra, The Addams Family, The Iron Lady and The Dark Knight Rises, the exhibition will Dorothy’s pinafore from The Wizard Of Oz worn by Judy Garland, Sharon Stone’s memorable little white dress from Basic Instinct, and the unforgettable black Givenchy dress worn by Audrey Hepburn in Breakfast at Tiffany's.

  

The exhibition will open on October 20th and remain in place until January 27th. So if anyone is planning on travelling to London this autumn, a visit to the V&A Museum may be in order!
