Hot Pink Lipstick
Hot pink lips have been a growing beauty trend lately (seen on the catwalks & among the celebrity set) & they only seem to be increasing in popularity this summer. The colour adds a pop to neutrals but also pairs well with the floral, print and neon trends that are taking over this season. It's also an instant face brightener and it's just so girly, summery and fun. Simple face makeup with mascara-heavy lashes really makes this a statement. But as with all daring beauty looks seen on the runways and red carpets, it may seem like this isn't a look that's suitable for everyday wear; However, if you take the right steps, I think it's absolutely possible to rock hot pink lips without looking completely over-the-top!! Want to learn how?? Read on!!
Tips for Wearing Hot Pink Lips:
Such a vibrant lip colour can be pretty difficult to pull off, but if you're bold enough to take the plunge, here are a few things to keep in mind:
1 Keep your eyes bare - touch them up with concealer for daywear and just a hint of mascara for evening.
2. Skip the blush. Combine with fresh-faced, glowing skin. Steer clear of blusher to avoid the dreaded clown-face. If you do wear blush, try selecting a nude colour.
3. Hot pink lipstick is also a great alternative for those nights when you want something bold and daring but don’t want bright red lips – it’s also a perfect spring and summer alternative to a classic red lip.
4. Many people will tell you that fair-skinned girls can’t pull off bright pink shades, but this obviously isn’t true (see Emma Stone above – flawless!). If you want to try this look, then try it – you only live once!
5. Stick with white or black for your eyes!!! If you decide to do the bold eye/ bold lip combination keep the eye makeup simple, stick with a white, beige or black eye shadow. Maybe just some eyeliner smudged around or a simple smokey eye.
6. Skip the lip liner pencil & apply bright pink lipstick with a precision lip brush or even your finger. You don't want the look to appear too harsh. Forgoing lip liner will give your lips a more youthful appearance & if you want to enlarge the look of your lips, apply a bit of dewy gloss in the centre of your lower lip!!
7. Apply the colour to the back of your hand before applying it to your lips with a lip brush. You'll achieve a subtler effect!!
