We must thank Paris and Milan for London’s decision to hold a men’s only fashion week in June. Imagine an entire catwalk dedicated to handsome men swaggering up and down…heaven!

The dates have been announced and we can expect the event to fall over the two days of the 15^th – 17^th June. It has been decided to name the event; London Collections: Men. The launch coincides with London Olympics and will celebrate and encompass cultural events surrounding the collection shows and presentations.

The good news was announced by Chairman of the Fashion 2012 Menswear Committee, GQ editor Dylan Jones. “This is a fabulous initiative, and one that will undoubtedly draw even more attention towards London this year. London is the place to be in 2012”. Harold Tillmann, the Chairman of the British Fashion Council added; “The menswear industry has been growing from strength to strength in past years and this is a true testament to this, London Collections: Men will not only be a showcase for brands and designers but will cross cultural programme creating a festival for Menswear in what will be a truly exciting year for the UK”.

I’m excited for obvious reasons, that reason of course being the menswear week will become a bi-annual event to be held in January and June. What did you think I was excited about?
