Oscar de la Renta sure knows a thing or two about keeping things feminine and graceful. At his runway show this Fall, models sported custom headbands. These very chic head accessories added flair to the ready-to-wear collection. Made from a simple band of wide ribbon and a jewel, these headbands can be easily recreated if one fancied getting a bit arts and craftsy on a rainy day this month.
Take a trip down to your local haberdashery store and pick up some ribbon of your choice, some fabric glue and an antique looking jewel. Using the picture below as a guide:
Step 1
Fasten the jewel to the ribbon using glue if needed and tie the ribbon round your hairline, tying the ribbon at the back of the head under the hair, so as to hide it.
Step 2
Backcomb and hairspray your hair to coiffed perfection then , ensuring that the jewels rests at the centre of your forehead, ease the band onto the hair.
Step 3
Grab a mirror and admire your creativity, shake your wallet for good measure (just to hear all the extra money you have saved rattling around).
Rodarte also showcased a beautiful and dainty range of hair adornments at their Fall show this year. Just as the Oscar de la Renta headbands can be easily recreated on a budget, so too can these magnificent star spangled creations.

So be clever, have a rummage through all the tinsel and tacky lameta, you are sure to find plain gold/silver star shaped decorations. Step 1
When you have found approx 10 Stars in varying sizes, its time to get to work with the super glue, put some newspaper down to cover your work surface.
Step 2
Glue all the stars that you have found to the front of the banana clip. Leave glue to set and dry.
Step 3
Style hair in a side chignon, and backcomb for volume. Insert your new clip at the side of your head, fix wisps of hair around the clip to give that whimsicsl windswept look. Then step back and admire.
