Golden Spiderweb is Dublin based retail chain that sells a unique blend of ladies style & fashion, catering for sizes 8 – 24, & all offered at knock out prices.  It has been a busy two years for the Irish owned & family run business, having recently opened their fifth store in Dublin, at Blackrock Shopping Centre, and also launched a fabulous new online store this August (www.goldenspiderweb.ie).

Golden Spiderweb began its journey in 1990 as husband & wife, Gerry and Ann Robinson, ran a retail & wholesale business in Ireland, selling ladies clothing, and specialising in knitwear. These knitwear garments were designed in Ireland by Ann, and were being hand knit by local women in Zimbabwe, Africa. This started off as a small knitting project in Zimbabwe, aimed at providing employment and empowering local women. Between 1991 – 2002 the expansion grew, and from starting with a compliment of 40 women, the project became so successful, that at the height of its success, over 6,000 women were employed. Later the political situation in Zimbabwe changed and made importing from Zimbabwe impossible. In 2003 Gerry & Ann went into semi-retirement.

And now……….they’re back!

Although the knitting project has not been revived just yet ……………the best is still to come!

Only last year their son, Niall, moved home from Australia to join the business, and has been working at moving the business online.  “It’s something we knew that needed to be done”, remarks Ann about expanding the business online. “With the massive surge in Irish people spending more time on the Internet, and shopping online, it really is a must have for our business to continue growing. And the response to our new web site has been over whelming!” says Ann.
