Leather is undeniably the hottest trend of AW 2012/2013, bringing with it a new kind of gothic glam. Not just reserved for leather jackets, gloves and pants this season; there is virtually no item of clothing that doesn’t come in leather. From two piece suits to full length gowns, leather leather is everywhere.
Heavy metal accessories are the obvious choice when it comes to leather, but they can also be a great way to tap into the gothic trend without feeling like a dominatrix. Whether they are the focal point of an outfit, or merely a subtle complement; studs and spikes can instantly toughen up your look, teamed with or without the black stuff.
The golden rule of heavy metals is to limit the studded items per outfit, particularly when worn with leather. Think more Olivia Palermo, less Lady Gaga - this is not a trend you want to be over-zealous with.
Below are some simple and affordable ways to get your spike on...
Hair Accessories & Hats
Ideal for the more cautious fashionista, the Alice band is the perfect way to dip a toe into heavy metals. If feeling a little more adventurous, mix fashion and function this winter with a studded hat.
