Studded white leather, bare midriffs and itsy bitsy bralets are evidently not everyone's cup of tea, but one of my favourite Spring Summer fashion shows was not one for the faint hearted. In a show that has been unanimously described as "pure Versace", Donatella sent her long limbed models down the runway in an array of white, pistachio, sea foam blue and mint greens.
One standout look from the show that can be easily emulated is the bralet and pencil skirt combo. I suspect this look is going to be big this summer, though it helps when you have the washboard abs that the Versace gals do!
River Island has channelled La Versace’s vision of quintessential Italian glamour in their Spring Summer look book, as seen below, and there is a wide variety of retro corset-like tops available on the High Street.
As always, Topshop is hot on the catwalks heels and has a great selection, from polka dot and leather D&G-esque corsets to lace bandeaus.
For body conscious Versace glam, pair with a tight tube or pencil skirt. The midi skirt has been having a revival of late so the high street is awash with plenty of choice. (skirts below from a selection at Topshop)
For a softer look, pair a lace bandeau with a waterfall blazer and boxy shorts.
Or a tapered high waisted trouser, as below from Asos.
Alternatively, make like the Versace girls in a matching two piece. The flash of bare midriff turns the formal-ness of a two piece suit of its head and instantly oozes sex appeal. Suit below from Asos.
For those of us who aren't blessed with catwalk ready frames, a peplum skirt is your new best friend. The angles of the skirt hide lumps and bumps and draw attention to the narrowest part of your waist. Pair this skirt from Aqua with a bralet and multiple strands of necklaces for a more modest look.
