With the amount of excitement and anticipation surrounding the upcoming London Olympics, is it any wonder that sportswear is having a bit of a fashion moment? From motorcross inspired rompers at Alexander Wang, luxurious sweaters at Marc Jacobs and popsocks at Victoria Beckham (left to right above,) athletic inspired ensembles are set to be a big hit this Summer.

Banish all thoughts of your gym tracksuit and runners, the luxe part here is key. The look puts an edgey spin on casualness, and it's all in the colour, fabric and fit. See below for your easy guide to nailing the look and get your A-game on.

Your staple for this trend is the vest, though now with detailing you've never seen before. Think fluro piping, mesh and sporty racer backs. All these below can be found on ASOS. Combining one of these vests with simple tailored pieces will instantly update your look.

Typically, sportswear can be seen as the antithesis of glamour. However, by playing your cards right, sports luxe can see you from the office right through to the party. Pair loose fit tshirts and slouchy knited sweaters with anything from these black silk joggers from Topshop, mint green palazzo pants or sequin tube skirt from Mango, and keep accessories to a minimum.

Bandage dresses may be reminiscent of WAGS and TOWIE, but they are a key player in the sports luxe field. These dresses below, from a selection at Miss Selfridge, hit the nail on their head with mesh pannelling, strap detailing and block colours.

Alternatively, pair a loose silk skater dress, such as this one from Mango, or a bright coloured playsuit with pockets  with a chunky, strappy sandal for an easy reference to the trend.
