He is probably one of the best known designers in the world as well as representing the most famous fashion house, Chanel, but when it comes to giving birthday gifts as presents, Karl Lagerfeld lives up to his image of being totally unpredictable.

EMMA THOUGH A FISHING ROD WAS EXCELLENT 18TH BIRTHDAY PRESENT

Lagerfeld who turns 79 next Monday, bought Harry Potter star, Emma Watson a fishing rod for her 18th birthday. Amazingly, Watson was thrilled with the "beautiful" gift from the controversial Chanel designer because it was clear he had put a lot of thought into what he could give her to mark her special day. Emma, now 22, reveals: "It was the most beautiful thing I've ever seen. It's actually my dad who's the fisher in my family but what was so sweet that Karl had obviously done some research, seen that I'd once donated to the Wild Trout Trust and thought this was something I would love”. She did admit that she has never used it, but it's such a beautiful object and it’s one of the best things she has ever been sent. Very strange!
