MIDDAY PRESENTER ELAINE ROWLEY

From newsreader to having her own Midday Show on TV3, Elaine Crowley has been faithful and loyal to the TV network that launched her career over 10 years ago. Fashion.ie caught up with the Cork TV chat-show host to talk about fashion and a few other things you may not know about the gal from Cork.

Where did you grown up?

A place called Newtowpothouse, just outside Mallow in Co Cork.

How would you describe yourself in three words?

Fun, flamboyant, stubborn.

What else would you be if you weren't a TV Presenter?

A barrister or a musician!

What are your favourite colours?

Red and black!

What is your favourite piece of clothing?

At the moment it’s a skull embellished jumper I bought in Coco Boutique in Dublin, love it.

Describe what you like to wear for casual nights out?

Jeans, a long t-shirt and a cropped jacket.

 Where do you normally shop for clothes?

I love Debenhams, Pennys and A-wear, and I get a lot of my casual clothes for iclothing.ie . You can’t really go wrong shopping there.

Do you to accessorise with jewellery and bling?

Very much so. I’m like a magpie! I love big earrings and bangles and blingtastic chunky rings. I think accessories make an outfit.

Favourite fashion designers/labels, describe?

I love love love Michael Kors. If I won the lotto I’d kit myself out in his stuff top to bottom. For evening wear Anoushka G, and Sinead Doyle is a designer I’ve recently discovered through Kirsteen in Xpose. Her leatherwork is amazing and she’s one to watch.

How do you plan your outfits for The Midday Show?

I don’t really have time to shop for all my clothes, five outfits a week is a lot! I talk to Rachel and Karen in Debenhams and they pick out clothes for me to wear. They kindly loan me my wardrobe, thankfully! God knows what I’d end up wearing otherwise!!

Have you ever had a wardrobe malfunctions on TV?

Apart from the odd cleavage miss-hap, nothing too serious!

What do you look for when trying on clothes?

I find it really difficult to get clothes to fit properly. My waist is quite small compared to my bust and my hips ( I think I’m turning into a cartoon character!) I need structured clothes with a lot of tailoring, or else I just look like I’m wearing a tent!

Is there one fashion accessory that you simply can't live without?

No – I’m pretty good at improvising if I need to, there’s nothing I have that I couldn’t live without.

If you knew were going to be put on a desert island for a month, name three things you would bring with you and why?

Water ( so I wouldn’t die of thirst) Sunscreen ( so I wouldn’t burn to a crisp) and Gerard Butler (to keep me occupied)

If you could have lunch with 3 people (past or present) who would you choose and why?

Billy Connolly, because he’s the funniest man alive, Oprah Winfrey so I could pick her brains, and Buffalo Bill, just for the laugh.
