This week saw the launch of two new major handbag designs from fashion powerhouses Alexander McQueen and Mulberry, entitled “The Heroine” and “Bryn” respectively.

MCQUEEN:

"The Heroine" is described by McQueen as a "timeless luxury piece" and is the luxe love child of the satchel and the doctor's bag, with a teardrop profile and short, tote-style handles.

In order to recognise the designer’s increased focus on accessories, the Heroine will be starring in its very own campaign shot by renowned still life photographer Dan Tobin Smith, in which a graphic white backdrop will be used to dramatically highlight the bag in monochromatic splendour.

Should this designer beauty catch your eye, the luxury item can be yours for a mere €1,727 and that is the “cheapest” version of the deluxe accessory in oxblood suede, with the black version in crocodile skin costing a staggering €28,630.

The sumptuous holdall has already been spotted on the arm of Zoe Saldana earlier this week.

MULBERRY:

“Bryn” has been unveiled as part of the Mulberry autumn/winter 2012 collection and joins the other members of the elite designer family including, “The Alexa”, “Bayswater” and the recently launched “Del Ray”.

The luxury brand's latest arrival is inspired by the iconic men's satchel “Brynmore” and includes a triple Postman's Lock, a top handle and cross-body strap.

The newly launched “Bryn” is now available to buy online and in Mulberry stores, with prices starting at a hefty €706.

The “Bryn” comes in two sizes, regular and small and is available in classic oak leather, flame or black shiny grain leather, petrol velvet-print grain leather and luxurious black pebbled haircalf.

The bag has already seen on the brand’s regular patrons  Alexa Chung, Keira Knightley and Atlanta de Cadenet Taylor.
