Now that the UK version has well and truly kicked off, the second series of The X Factor USA returned to our screens on Wednesday September 12th, and with it a revamped judging panel. Joining L.A. Reid and Simon Cowell is pop legend Britney Spears, and Disney starlet Demi Lovato.

And so far, it is not Britney who is standing out in the style stakes, but Demi, who is proving herself to be the more fashion forward of the two female judges.

The 19-year-old singer joined the judging panel following a stint in rehab where she was treated for bipolar disorder and bulimia. The new and improved Demi was keen to shed her teenybopper image and this resulted in her dyeing her hair from black to a blonde ombré style, and completely revamping her wardrobe.

She now has a more edgy look, taking on board ongoing trends, such as neons, colour blocking, and studding. She also seems to be teaming leather with almost everything, which gets a huge thumbs up from me! In the process she is overshadowing Britney, who rather boringly seems to be sticking to underwhelming body-con dresses, and failing to accessorise as well as Demi does.
