Handbags, handbags, handbags…. Yes they are important to us all. Colours, shapes, brands, straps, how much day to day items can I fit into it. The list just goes on and on but they are just more than a fashion accessory. We all want to look good but at the same time have a bag that will allow us to carry our day to day essentials so there are lots of elements we have to consider before purchasing that thing we carry around with us everywhere. Here are some simple tips to remember before you purchase your next handbag

A CLASSIC HANDBAG

Size does matter!

Think about the day to day essentials you always keep in your bag and make sure that your handbag has enough room to accommodate them. If your bag does not fit the bare essentials, it defeats the purpose of carrying it around with you. Depending on whether you’re going to use the bag at work or when going out on the town, can help you determine what size makes the most sense for you.

If it’s comfortable then you are comfortable!

You intend to carry your handbag around with you so it’s important you consider how you’re most comfortable carrying it. Ask the question, do you prefer carrying your bag on your shoulder or on the middle of your arm? Always consider the handle sizes or length of straps.

 Is it functional?

Before you purchase that handbag, you must consider how secure your belongings will be that are held inside. This all depends where you live. For those living in a crowed environment like in a city, are zippers essential opposed to buttons, given how easy others can access your handbag in confided or tight spaces. Security is paramount as we all dread someone dipping into our bag and whipping out our purse or other belongings that are dear to us.

SECURITY IS ALWAYS IMPORTANT SO ZIPPERS AND SECURE STRAPS ALWAYS GOOD CHOICE

Cheap is not always the real deal!

The quality of your handbag is essential as what you think might be a bargain when buying a handbag in a sale does not always guarantee that the bag will be of good quality. If you are buying a handbag that is going to be subject to lots of day to day, wear and tear then you need to ensure that it is going to last. Spending a few extra euros on a good quality bag can be your saviour to ensuring that you don’t have to replace it after a couple of weeks because the straps are falling off or the zipper does not work.

 Is the colour right?

There is no point buying an expensive handbag if the colour of your bag does not match up with your wardrobe. Whether you buy the bag for casual wear or something that goes with an evening or going out clothing, you want to make sure you get more than one use out of it. Classic colours like black, brown and cream, can be matched up with most items in your wardrobe but all depending on the occasion. Don’t waste money on buying a bag where you look at it and say to yourself, I’ll only ever use that once. Oh and don’t forget, if your bag purchase is for day to day wear then you want to make sure that it is either “stain proof” or any spills can be cleaned from the material to stop staining.

HANDBAGS WITH HANDLES ARE SECURE OPTION

Style Style Style

This is what most of us first consider when we buy our handbag Remember that what is fashionable today might be dated tomorrow so do try and avoid buying a handbag that may be trendy today but after a few months will be thrown in the bag of your wardrobe or that will end up that the local charity shop. Even people who buy items in a charity shop want something that is fashionable. The thing to avoid or be weary of are trendy handbags that more often have big buttons, different colour straps and  fringes. Classic style handbags are a very safe option and ask yourself one very simple question, Will the handbag I am thinking of buying be fashionable this time next year or the most important question. Will I still want to use this handbag next year?.  Finally, always consider the style and colour or your handbag that reflects you as a person. If you are the conservative type then you don’t want a handbag that is bright or loud as believe it or not, first impressions count and one contributing fact that people sometimes interpret a person’s character is by the style and colour of their handbag. FACT

So if you have your eye on a handbag that you think is very me, ask yourself the above questions and if you can answer yes to all of the above questions then that is the handbag for you.
