Carine Roitfeld wears controversy as effortlessly as some women wear perfume. Alongside the erotic discourse, the bondage, leather and spiked heels, there is her French sophistication and Russian descent, a mix that has marked Roitfeld’s vision since the beginning; ‘a puff of hedonism, a whiff of seduction, with a nod to tradition and risk-taking’. It’s an attitude that’s aided Roitfeld to transform Vogue Paris in the decade that she was editor-in-chief, into a contemporary fashion icon.

The fashion icon, and Karl Lagerfeld’s bestie, confirmed that she's working on a new magazine, and hints that the imagery may be different than the vampy irreverence she was associated with at Vogue Paris: "I will always be irreverent in my own way, but I will try to use new approaches. I've used a lot of cigarettes, a lot of sexy pictures, and a lot of naked girls. I will try to do something totally different now, because I don't want to get bored of myself or to bore my readers. So, if I learn something new today, I will use it. I have to reinvent myself." She continues: "I want to see a link between the catwalk and reality. It's difficult for the woman to understand how to wear the clothes she is seeing on the catwalk. Maybe I can find a new way of thinking and a totally different way to express myself."

Other details remain elusive, hint of this idea and that idea are abundant though. Who she will work with; Marie-Amelie Sauve, [Mario] Testino, and Stephen Gan – “We make the dream team”. Its title?  “I cannot tell you, I'm trying to see if it's not already filed, but I think it suits me, it’s pretty rock and roll”. What we have been allowed to know is it won’t be a weekly, fortnightly, or monthly issue- "It will be something less frequent to make it more iconic, more collectible. I want to make something really beautiful, chic, different. . . . I have to find a new way, so I am dreaming about it and working it out”. Carine has also revealed that the publication will be printed in English, to make it more international.
