On being the face of Chanel Mademoiselle handbags '“I will always feel it’s more than just a purse. It’s a quilted case full of lipstick, love letters and the dreams and possibilities that I have always felt every time I see that beautiful ‘CC.’”
Blake Lively is the All American It girl who seems to have it all, rising to fame as Serena Van der Woodsen in HBO's Gossip Girl, transforming from stereotypical teen TV actress to film siren. We saw her grittier side in 'The Private Lives of Pippa Lee' and 'The Town'. She's been described as a fashion darling and not only has access to arguably the best wardrobe on TV, she has top designers vying to dress her. Blake can count Karl Lagerfield and Christian Louboutin as friends to name but a few and is a regular front row attendee at every major fashion event. Her fantastic figure and sensational hair ensure she looks good in almost anything. Here are a couple of reasons why she stands out from the crowd.
She wears red lipstick
When dressing up for red carpet events, Blake isn't afraid to change it up. She often favours a red lip which is a sure fire way to look glamorous. Often women in their 20's will shy away from a strong lip colour, fearing it makes them look older. On the contrary it has many benefits including making your teeth look whiter and defining the shape of your mouth. Use a lipliner like Blake and ensure foundation is flawless, perfect mascara and a slick of eyeliner completes this look.
She knows her best asset
Having the confidence and self esteem to know what your best asset is, is an integral part of ensuring you look good all the time. More often than not we tend to focus on the areas we don't like rather than the one's we do. Decide what your best asset is and highlight it when choosing an outfit. Blakes knows hers are her endless legs. At 5 foot 10 inches, she stands as tall as most runway models and she isn't afraid to show her pins off. She keeps her legs in top shape by regularly doing squats and lunges. She often chooses tailored shorts that cut off at the mid point of the thigh to elongate the leg. She hits a fashion high note below in Chanel Cruise and Marchesa.
She isn't afraid to wear white
Wearing white is the antidote to good old reliable black. 'You can never wear too much black'. You can actually, and after a while it starts to get a little boring. Contrary to popular belief black does not suit everyone, whilst its slimming properties make it more favourable than lighter colours like white, for many people its extremely draining too close to the face and only serves to wash them out and deflect from their best features. White looks just as good in the Winter in the form of a cashmere sweater or a wool coat as it does in the Summer in a Little White dress. Blake works this Roberto Cavalli backless number with a tan and simple makeup. For the BAFTA awards she choose a sheer Grecian style white gown with beading to cover up.
She changes her hair.
Arguably Blake's hair is as great a feature as her long legs. However she doesn't rely on one style to carry her through. She was happy to dye her hair red for a film role in 'Green Lantern' which she pulled of with aplomb and she has previously cut her hair closer up to her shoulders for a more elegant look. She's happy to experiment with up do's for various red carpet appearances including adding braids and this slicked back gel look below. When's the last time we saw Angelina try an up do?
She's happy dressing down too
Blake is just as happy dressed down in Converse as she is in her namesake Louboutins. Victoria B take note! Whilst its fantastic to look super glamorous all the time, its not really reality. Blake is often photographed on set between takes in her slippers, rocking it out in flat boots or on the beach in casual shorts. She doesn't use a stylist and often does her own hair and makeup for events. She has stated that she doesn't like her hair and makeup to be too busy as she doesn't want to distract from the beautiful clothes that she, as an actress is a mannequin for. XOXO.....
