February 17th, London Fashion Week kicked off. Editors, buyers and fashionistas around the world will descend on the style capital like moths to a flame to witness first hand the upcoming trends and what we will be adding to our winter wardrobes.

One stylish lady who we will be seeing at LFW has already been making waves since 1959. Barbara Millicent Roberts, better known as Barbie, has been reinvented from your childhood style inspiration to a sophisticated and influential icon.

Vogue.com has said of the style maven

"Barbie has established herself as one of the world's leading models, dressed by iconic brands from Givenchy and Versace to Chanel and Dior. More than 100 million meters of fabric have gone into making her incredible wardrope and she has over one billion pairs of gravity-defying shoes, most recently created by Christian Louboutin."

In the 1960s Barbie tried her hand at multiple careers; fashion designer, airline hostess, ballerina, nurse, astronaut and most impressively, "career woman." in the 70s and 80s, she progressed to surgeon, Miss America and Olympic gold medalist. Not content with these admirable and versatile careers, Barbie went on to try her hand as a CEO, airforce and army member, vetinarean, teacher and in 2004, presidential candidate. Not bad for a woman measuring 11.5 inches tall and weighing 7.25 ounces.

It is therefore no suprise that she has been chosen to model the new autumn winter 2012 collection for NEWGEN designers Sister by Sibling. Alastair Strong, known for his work for Dazed & Confused and ASOS, photographed the legend and the shots will be used as the backdrop at the Sister by Sibling LFW debut.

Sister is the brainchild of Sid Bryan, Joe Bates and Cozette McCreery, the young designers behind the hip men's knitwear label Sibling. They have noted Paris, Texas as one of their influences for Sister a/w 2012 and have said they are excited to show for the first time and "being pure knit, [we] always love the autumn winter season."
