It's about time Barbie ditched those sparkly, strapless dresses and fluffy jackets; even with her figure she couldn't pull them off. So get ready for Barbie as you've never seen her this London Fashion Week.

Louise Gray, the always colourful Scottish designer, is pairing up with our favourite blonde for her LFW show on September 17th. Gray will be creating three life-sized looks inspired by Barbie, who is the sponsor of the show. So what do you get when you cross the queen of pink and a designer with a love for colour, texture, embroidery and print?

"It's been interesting inviting Barbie into my world and giving her a makeover as part of my spring/summer 2013 collection," Gray told VogueUK. "She is so famous; it was fun to give her a Louise Gray twist. It will be really different to anything she has done or been seen in before."

The fashion muse herself will model the looks (they're creating a one-off doll just for the occasion) and not only will Barbie be getting a new look, you too will be able to rock these looks because they'll all be available for sale. Think layering, separates and lots of colour!

"Well, my clothes are always about colour and fun - making a bold statement through the way you dress," said Gray. "I wanted to see Barbie in some separates and layer up her look and give her a different way to be girly and fun compared to what people may have seen before or normally associate with her."

Did you ever think you'd see the day when Barbie would be your fashion icon? What do you think; is this the madness or the makings of fashion brilliance?
