While we are all aware of a select group of models and their love of the fairy dust, it’s not often that we have any real history of the model. However you may remember this particular face from 2007’s America’s Next Top Model. Jael Strauss has appeared on American show Dr. Phil after her family reached out for help with her methamphetamine addiction.

Strauss (28) appeared Tyra Bank’s model search show where she reached the final stages. She appeared on the US chat show looking completely dishevelled where it was revealed that after six years of meth addiction Jael is now homeless.

Methamphetamine, sometimes called ‘crystal meth’, is a recreational and highly addictive drug that releases dopamine in the brain, causing a burst of energy and euphoria. Among many other things, it causes cardiovascular damage and addicts often appear thin, twitchy and pale with bad skin and teeth. 

The DR. Phil episode is set to air in the US early next week, a clip for the show has been released showing Jael about to walk on stage before changing her mind and running away. Dr Phil describes Jael as a “full blown meth addict” and dramatically goes out to find her in the studio’s car park. Jael struggled with personal issues during the filming of ANTM and her addiction is thought to have begun around the same time. The model’s meth habit has ravaged her looks, reportedly given her sores all over her body and rotted her teeth, but it seems she’s reluctant to accept the help of Dr Phil. The episode airs on September 13.
