The iconic Andy Warhol, famed for being a leading figure in the 'pop art' movement, serves as the latest inspiration behind Francois Nars's new limited edition collection. The collection marks the 25th anniversary of Warhol's death. As a child Francois remembers 'being drawn to the colours - so bright and graphic', which can be seen evidently in this new line. Global cosmetics giant 'Sephora' have an exclusive on the line, which is heavily influenced by Pop Art, whilst the larger department stores are offering a more downtown, 'Factory' vibe collection.. What I find most appealing about this collection is the packaging, Nars which is one of my favourite makeup lines, is however synonymous for its simple, clean packaging in black and white. The Andy Warhol line includes packaging featuring Warhol quotes and muses like Debbie Harry and Edie Sedgwick making it fun and a luxury for anyones makeup bag. This new line suggests a change up in strategy for the cosmetic house, earlier on this year there was a beautiful collaboration with designer Thakoon, however bigger, limited edition makeup collaborations has long been monopolized by Mac, judging by word in the press, we can look forward to seeing more of these lines from Nars.
Here are a couple of the products we can expect to see hit the shelves of Brown Thomas very soon!
I have got to get my hands on one of these beautiful 'soup cans' . The 'Kiss Me Mini Larger than Life Lipgloss Coffret' containing 5 beautiful lip glosses
Details of the shades are yet to be released, but on closer inspection we can see 3 very wearable pinks, a silver (bang on trend for Silly Season) and a rich nude shade. The mini glosses are perfect for taking on a night on the town and will fit easily into any clutch bag. The soup can would also be great for housing makeup brushes.
For anyone who is looking to purchase Christmas gifts a little earlier, the Debbie Harry eye and cheek palette is a great option. Featuring 4 strong eyeshadows and 2 neutral blushers, this is a must have for any makeup junkie who enjoys experimenting with strong colours on the eyes.
It's back to black with my favourite of the 5 nail polishes, it's been a while since jet black talons have been 'en vogue' but I'm happy to try them out with 'Back Room' this Winter. Also of note is the beautiful purple 'New York Dolls'
Finally, with a nod to Warhol's legendary painting 'Self Portrait 1967', the 3 eyeshadow palettes, each printed with a Warhol philosopy, are definitely one for collection. My favourite is shade 'Self Portrait 2' which contains black, white and silver, ideal for creating a classic, smokey eye.
