Starbucks have always been a luxury brand in their own right but the coffee company have launched their very fashion-inspired collection by collaborating with Kate and Laura Mulleavy of fashion brand Rodarte.
Starbucks have asked the designers to create a limited edition collection just in time for Christmas including gift cards, tote bags, cup sleeves and mugs, all featuring a grey, silver and white checkerboard pixelated print against a green background.

This is an extremely different venture for the fashion brand who don't particularly specialise in designing for mass production in fashion, never mind anything else but its not the first time the coffee company has partnered with designers. For its 40th anniversery, the corporation commissioned Alexander Wang amongst others to design limited edition t-shirts. This collaboration brought us Wang's famous spilt coffee t-shirt.

Starbucks vice president of category brand management Samie Barr said they were very excited about the collaboration and added,"We look for unique and differentiated, not necessarily looking for mainstream. People buy with their eyes".
Rodarte, who are famed for designing the Black Swan tutu, are known for their edgy conceptual designs and don’t conform to mass-market trends and briefs so this will be a chance for fashion lovers to have their own little bit of idiosyncratic Rodarte accessory in their hands every day.
