From employing illegal immigrants to holding meetings in the nude, clothing maker American Apparel has a long history of drawing attention to itself. Known for their provocative advertising resorting to showing pubic hair and nipples to get people talking about them, now for the first time their campaign is spreading the good word instead of the distasteful.
Last week they unveiled images promoting a line of 'Pride' tees made in partnership with the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Defamation (GLAAD). And cleverly they booked ANTM alum Isis King to front the campaign, if you’re not an ANTM follower, Isis was the first transgender model to appear on the show. Each tee carries chest slogans like ‘Gay O.K’ and ‘Legalize Gay’. Aside from advertising the cause and pushing it into the public arena, part of the sales proceeds will go to GLAAD to help fund this month’s Pride marches across America. Finally a constructive campaign from the American Apparel group!
