Alexa Chung the quintessential ‘it girl’ and full-time clothes horse is about to add another role to her C.V. as the model/tv presenter/Vogue contributing editor has landed a part in hit US show Gossip Girl.

Filming for the sixth series of the show began yesterday in New York, where Chung relocated to in 2009 to present the TV show It’s on With Alexa Chung. The 28-year-old was snapped filming with Blake Lively and Leighton Meester around the lower east side in a kitschy Azure-blue dress and black kitten heels.

As of now, it is unknown what Chung’s role in the show is as no character details have been confirmed. This season is the final run for Gossip Girl and will begin airing in October.

 The rake-thin fashionista was at the centre of a controversy earlier this year when she was accused of having an eating disorder after posting pictures of her tiny frame on her Twitter account. Ironically, yesterday she was pictured clutching a can of orange soda and a bag of Cheetos and later tweeted “so lunch was tasty”.

UPDATE: Alexa's rep has confirmed that she will be making a cameo on the show and playing herself.

Meanwhile, fellow Gossip Girl alumna Blake Lively has seen her profile sky rocket in the last year and was announced yesterday as the latest face of Gucci. The blond bombshell donned a figure-hugging sparkling dress for the commercial of Gucci’s new fragrance ‘Premiere’ and looks every inch the glamorous movie star. The commercial sees Blake overlooking the glittering lights of Los Angeles looking seductive and sultry. The advertisement was filmed by acclaimed Drive director Nicolas Winding Refn at the exclusive Sheats Goldstein Residence in Beverly Hills.  All we can say is Ryan Reynolds is a lucky man!
