Anna Dello Russo's hotly anticipated accessories collection will go on sale in H&M stores on October 4th.
After sell out collaborations with the likes of Lagerfeld, Versace and Marni, this is the first time the Swedish retailer has joined forces with a fashion director. Having long been a street style sensation and internet celebrity in her own right, Vogue Japan’s editor-at-large Anna Dello Russo was an obvious choice.
When asked about her involvement with the High Street brand she said,
"I am excited by this collaboration - it's the first time H&M has involved a fashion director in a special project. This is the sign of an important evolution in fashion, and I am both thrilled and humbled to be the one chosen to lead it. I wanted to create precious accessories that are impossible to find. As a stylist I know accessorising is essential - it is the personal touch to any outfit. With these pieces everybody can have fun, turning an ordinary day into a fantastic fashion day."
The 50 piece collection is compiled of sunglasses, jewellery, shoes and bags; all designed to reflect Anna’s love for ornamentation and animals; in fact, the gold clutch has a clasp shaped like Anna’s dog Cucciolina.
One thing is apparent, the over-the-top collection is not one for shrinking violets with diamante earrings, oversized glitzy bangles, alligator-embellished sunglasses and a gilded gold and turquoise suitcase. Prices start at €20 for earrings and go up to €300 for a pair of thigh-high black leather boots.
Having been given full creative control by H&M, Anna stars in the advertising campaign and has also released a music video to her own electro-pop song ‘Fashion Shower’ to mark the launch. The print advertisements, shot by Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott, feature the “fashion maniac” straddling giant gold booties and a life-size replica of a turquoise and gold arm cuff.
Anna will celebrate the launch of the collection this week with a star studded ball in Paris where Azealia Banks will perform. The former fashion editor of Vogue Italia has also pledged to donate a portion of her commission from the project to the Japanese branch of the International Red Cross.
The collection will hit over 150 H&M stores worldwide and is expected to be a sell out. As for the design collaborations, Maison Martin Margiela is next up, with a collection landing in stores on November 15th.
